Oh my it has been awhile! Life has been quite crazy, but we are still here and pluggin along…
August was a busy crazy month, with family visits pretty much everyday of the month. It was so great to share our new home with all of our family and get to be and see all the cousins, aunts, uncles and grandma.
Biggest news is that we got WATER in August!!!! I can not tell you how very exciting this is to us. We feel so very blessed to have water, even though they had to go a whoppin 480 feet!! Yes, you read that correctly, holy shitake mushrooms is right.. So our well is definitely the first budget buster, but what do you do? You just do it, because it is water and we neeeeeeeeeeeed water.
Our foundation for the main house was also poured. This too was behind schedule due to the concrete shortage here in the area, and so Chad has been busting his ass to get the underfloor, mechanical, plumbing and framing done before we leave on 9/10! This is two weeks less time than he thought he would have, but progress is happening. Have I ever mentioned what a bad ass he is. The kids have been right there with him, actually being of assistance! They are the perfect height for running mechanical without having to duck.
The kids started school this week and so it has been a week of many new things. Ema and Dom are at the local school this year. First time back in a brick and mortar school since March of 2020. They are both really, really enjoying it and I have been so very impressed thus far. Hailey is homeschooling first semester of freshmen year and then she will start at the high school second semester (reason for this next)! Ema and Dom are also riding the bus for the first time ever! Dom was so excited and then quickly realized that it was not a very fun ride! Country dirt roads and bus driver that has a lead foot! We laughed so hard the first afternoon after he got off the bus, his little face was just astonished..
We decided this summer to take the opportunity we have of time and freedom and are leaving on an epic road trip 9/10. We will be on the road for 32 days visiting like 19 states, countless monuments, 4 national parks and fingers crossed more memories then we will know what to do with! Mount Rushmore (littles have not been), Niagara Falls, New England States, NYC, DC, Philadelphia, Boston, Louisville, Kansas City (to see Hailey’s best friend). We are very excited and feel very blessed to be able to do this, but are definitely also feeling the pressure. The kids schools have been phenomenal. Really taking the road of experiences are as valuable if not more valuable than text books, and that has absolutely won my heart. We will learn so much about US history and World history on our trips. The nerdy teacher has definitely come out in me and I have so many fun, cool things to do with them while we are gone. Going deep into World War ll and the Holocaust with them all but especially the girls. Keep us in your prayers for patience and grace with each other. We will end in Oregon for our grandsons 1st birthday!
Koby and Natalie and the kids also made the big trek over in August to their first home of their own. They purchased a super cute little house in Thompson Falls and are now here full time. Natalie is still working for Samaritan, just 100% remote now. Koby is taking some time at home with a toddler and new born. They are settling in well and finding their new normal. So, very exciting to have them close.
I am sure this will be our last post for a bit. Do not foresee making any while we are on the road. We will talk to you soon, and as always thank you for following us on this journey.
